Labyrinths of Memory offers a retrospective approach on the work of Laurent Fiévet. Through major video works edited between 2008 and 2019, the show looks back at emblematic films by Alfred Hitchcock, Alain Resnais, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Stanley Kubrick. By soliciting our memories and knowledge, the four conceptual propositions that it brings together, each following a particular structuring logic resulting from the nature of the film used as a material and that of the different paintings which are sometimes associated with it, shift our perception onto the essential films of our cinematographic heritage. They weave both individually and collectively labyrinthine paths where ghosts lurk and where we gradually lose our bearings.
Labyrinths of Memory is a counterpart to Laurent Fievet’s solo show In the 6th Month presented at Tbilisi Art Fair.
A meeting with the artist is planned at the Hotel for April 12
